What does this calculator measure?
Aggregate tiedown WLL must meet at least half cargo weight, while general tiedown count also depends on article length, weight and forward blocking. This calculator checks those two conditions for a single general-cargo article using verified assembly ratings.

What does the screen check?
393.106(d) requires aggregate WLL of at least half cargo weight. Vehicle-to-cargo and same-side returns receive half rated credit; opposite-side over/through/around routes receive full credit. 393.110 adds length/weight counts.
Use verified weakest-component assembly WLL including binder, hooks and anchors. Grade 70 alone cannot determine chain WLL: chain size and applicable rating are required. Webbing requires a legible manufacturer WLL label. Equipment choice supplies no rating.
The optional angle/geometry multiplier is caller-selected engineering derating, not a statutory sine-angle factor or friction credit. It changes only the separate engineering subtotal. Scope: one general-cargo article, identical tiedowns, uniform route. Commodity-specific cargo, bulk, special-purpose fastening, mixed routes and multiple articles require their applicable rules.
393.102 separately addresses breaking-strength/WLL directional performance and downward restraint. Geometry, pretension, rolling, blocking strength, edge protection, condition, inspections and directional forces remain outside this arithmetic screen. A met aggregate/count result is not full compliance.
