The verse
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.”Proverbs 18:10
When Strong Tower Consulting was founded in Minnesota in 2008, the name was chosen from this verse. In the ancient world, a strong tower was the safest place in a city. When trouble came, people did not argue about where to go. They ran to the tower, because it was built to stand when everything around it was under pressure.
The verse is clear that the true strong tower is God, not a company. We take that seriously, and we do not borrow the phrase lightly. The name is a reminder of where our own confidence comes from, and a standard we try to live up to in the way we treat people.
What the name means for our clients
Freight runs on systems. Orders, dispatch, billing, settlements, fuel tax, EDI, and the data your leadership relies on all live inside technology that has to work every day. When it doesn't, the whole operation feels it. Loads sit. Invoices go out late. Drivers call about their pay. Someone has to know what to do.
That is the moment our name is about. We want to be the firm you call when the upgrade went sideways, when the person who understood the old system has left, when a go-live date is coming fast, or when you simply need an honest answer about whether your technology is serving the business. Three commitments follow from the name:
- Reliability. A tower that only stands in good weather is not much of a tower. We aim to be dependable when the pressure is on: responsive, prepared, and steady through cutover weekends and the problems nobody planned for.
- Refuge when systems fail. When something breaks, you need someone who knows freight systems well enough to diagnose the problem and calm enough to fix it without making it worse. One client described Scott's "cool head and a never say die attitude." That is the standard.
- Honesty. A refuge you cannot trust is no refuge at all. We tell clients the truth, including when the answer is not to buy more software, ours or anyone else's.
Our clients have described this better than we can. Desert Coastal Transport's IT manager wrote that Strong Tower Consulting was "our first point of contact (and last)" for IT issues beyond their in-house capabilities. A Christian company
We are a Christian company, and we say so plainly. Faith is the foundation of how we try to run the business: telling the truth, keeping our word, treating every client and colleague with respect, and doing the work well whether or not anyone is watching.
That does not mean we only work with people who share our beliefs, or that you will hear a sermon at a project kickoff. Our clients hire us for freight technology expertise, and that is what we deliver. What our faith adds is a standard of conduct. It is why integrity sits first among our values, and why we would rather lose a sale than give a client advice we don't believe.
